Use Slides in Grids

Create a Canvas Slide deck for each Grid row, open it from the cell, and use row data while editing.

What A Canvas Slide Column Does​

A Canvas Slide column stores slide output for each Grid row. Each row gets its own independent Canvas Slide deck, so editing or re-running one row does not overwrite another row's slides.

Use this when each row needs a presentation artifact, such as:

  • One investment memo per target company
  • One board update per portfolio company
  • One account report per customer
  • One market map per sector
  • One diligence summary per deal

Create A Canvas Slide Column​

  1. Open a Grid.
  2. Add or configure an AI-generated column.
  3. Choose a slide skill for the column.
  4. Lampi changes the column format to Canvas Slide.
  5. Save the column.

After the column is saved, each generated row can produce a Canvas Slide deck in that cell.

Generate Row Slides​

Run the row or column the same way you run other AI-generated Grid cells. While generation is running, the slide cell shows a running or queued state.

When generation finishes, the cell shows an Open slides action. Click it to open that row's deck.

Open Slides From A Cell​

  1. Find the Canvas Slide cell for the row you want.
  2. Click Open slides.
  3. The Slides panel opens for that row's deck.
  4. Review, edit, save, or export the row-specific slides.

The deck opens with the current row available as context.

Re-run Row Generation​

Use the re-run action on a Canvas Slide cell when you want to regenerate that row's slides.

Re-run after:

  • Source columns changed.
  • The prompt or selected slide skill changed.
  • You want a fresh version after improving row data.
  • The previous generation failed or stopped.

Review the result before exporting, especially if you had made manual edits in the Slides panel.

Use The Docked Grid Panel​

When you open slides from a Grid row, you can use Open grid to show a docked grid panel beside the Slides panel.

Use the docked panel to:

  • Check row values while editing.
  • Move to another row.
  • Compare source columns against the slide.
  • Re-run the current row.
  • Keep row context visible while asking AI for edits.

Use Hide grid when you want more room for slide editing.

Review Grid Citations​

Slides generated from Grid rows can keep provenance back to the row data that supported a claim or value.

Turn citation badges on in the Slides panel, then open a badge to review the source. When the source is a Grid citation, Lampi opens the cited Grid cell with its row and column context. This is useful when checking that a company-specific slide used the right row values before you save or export.

If a source column changes, re-run the row or update the slide from the latest Grid context, then review the citation badges again.

Mention Grid Columns With #​

When Grid context is available in Modify slides, type # to mention a column.

Examples:

  • "Update the summary using #Company Description."
  • "Create a KPI table from #Revenue, #EBITDA, and #Gross Margin."
  • "Rewrite the risks section using #Risk Analysis and keep it under 3 bullets."

Column mentions resolve against the current row, which makes the same slide workflow reusable across many rows.

Example: Investment Memo Pipeline​

  1. Create Grid columns for company name, description, financials, market analysis, risk analysis, and recommendation.
  2. Add a Canvas Slide column called "Investment Memo".
  3. Choose a slide skill that creates an investment memo deck or one-pager.
  4. Run the column for selected rows.
  5. Open each row's slides, review them with the docked grid panel, and export the final deck.

Example: Portfolio Updates​

  1. Keep one row per portfolio company.
  2. Store current quarter revenue, EBITDA, KPI commentary, key wins, risks, and next actions in separate columns.
  3. Add a Canvas Slide column called "Board Update".
  4. Generate slides for each row.
  5. Use Open slides to review and export each company's update.

Grid Setup Tips​

Make source columns easy for AI to use:

  • Use one concept per column.
  • Use descriptive column names.
  • Keep numeric values and units clear.
  • Put final reviewed text in columns that slides should use.
  • Avoid mixing unrelated notes in one large field.

Clear Grid structure leads to better row-specific slides.
