Integrate relevant data into Lampi
Lampi AI gives you several ways to bring data into your work: direct chat uploads for one-off analysis, Data Bank for quick file reuse, Context for long-term searchable knowledge, Connections for synced company drives, and MCP tools for live actions and external data.
Choose the right data source
Use the option that matches how long the data should remain useful and how Lampi AI should access it.

Context tells Lampi what knowledge to use. MCP tools tell Lampi what capability to call, such as web search, Files Search, Files Analysis, a database, or an app action.
Directly upload files in chat
For a quick document or image question, you can add files directly in the chat input. This is the fastest option when the file is only needed for the current conversation.
You can use direct chat uploads for tasks such as:
- Reviewing a PDF, Word document, spreadsheet, presentation, image, or CSV file
- Asking Lampi to summarize or extract information from a file
- Comparing a few files for a specific question
- Working with a file you do not need to keep as long-term workspace knowledge
Uploaded files appear next to your message before you send it, so you can confirm what Lampi will analyze.
Use direct chat upload when the file is temporary, task-specific, or only needed once.
Use the Data Bank
The Data Bank is a quick-access library for files used in chat. It helps you reuse files without uploading them again each time.
Use the Data Bank for:
- Files you uploaded in a previous chat
- Files generated by Lampi, such as documents, images, or exports
- Temporary work files that you may want to reuse soon
- Images, PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, CSV files, and Markdown files
The Data Bank is not the main place to organize long-term company knowledge. For durable, searchable data that should remain available across future chats, assistants, or agents, use the Context tab and folders.
Manage long-term context
To manage reusable context, open the Context tab from a chat. This is where you choose the durable knowledge Lampi AI should use for the current space.
The Context tab is designed for advanced processing and long-term document work, such as:
- Client folders
- Deal rooms
- Recurring research files
- Internal policies and procedures
- Team knowledge bases
- Documents that should remain searchable for future chats or AI Grid Agents
You can manage:
- Files — Documents uploaded into the selected folder or workspace.
- Integrations — Synced data from authorized sources, such as Google Drive or SharePoint.
- Notes — Personal notes or AI outputs you saved and want to reuse as context.
The files, integrations, and notes you select are the sources Lampi AI will use for your query. Focused context usually produces more relevant answers than selecting a broad set of unrelated documents.
Upload documents
Upload documents into folders when they should become part of reusable workspace knowledge.
In a chat, open the Context tab to add documents to the relevant folder or workspace. You can also add documents from the Files area in the sidebar.
This process indexes your documents so Lampi AI can search and reuse them in future interactions, according to your workspace permissions.
Depending on the size and type of the document, Lampi can take a few minutes to process them.
Depending on your role and permissions, you might not be able to manage the context.
Connect company drives
Use Connections when company knowledge lives in Google Drive or SharePoint and should stay synchronized with Lampi AI.
Connections are different from direct uploads and the Data Bank. They are designed to sync selected folders or documents from company drives into Lampi AI as searchable knowledge.

Use MCP tools
Use MCP tools when the task needs a live capability rather than stored context. Examples include Files Search, Files Analysis, Web Search, app actions, databases, external providers, document workflows, and custom company tools.
