Set up a Routine

Tell Marc what to change in plain language, or use the Settings tab for the controls available to that Routine.

Edit with Marc

Open a Routine and select Edit with AI. Ask for the change as a normal sentence:

Run this every weekday at 8:30 AM instead of every Monday.
Use my approved Microsoft inbox and ignore unrelated newsletters.
Add a short executive summary and a section for missing information.
Keep all drafts behind review.

Marc updates the settings that the selected Routine allows and preserves the parts you did not ask to change. If an important detail is missing, he asks before completing the update. When a built-in Routine keeps part of its core setup fixed, Marc explains which options remain available.

Use Routine settings

Open the Routine and select Settings. The available settings depend on the Routine and may include the following areas.

Status

Turn the Routine on when it is ready, or pause it without deleting its setup and history.

Sources

Choose the connected inboxes, calendars, folders, and other work sources the Routine can use. A source must already be connected and available to your account.

Trigger

Choose when the Routine should start:

  • Run now for work you start yourself;
  • Schedule for daily, weekly, monthly, or other recurring work;
  • Email activity for relevant new messages or thread updates;
  • Meeting activity for relevant calendar events;
  • File activity for supported new or updated files.

The trigger choices shown in Settings are the choices supported by that Routine. Event-based options are being rolled out progressively.

Signal conditions

For event-based Routines, describe which signals should qualify. For example, a CIM Review Routine should start for a genuine incoming CIM, not for every email with an attachment.

Keep the condition specific enough to exclude unrelated work while allowing normal wording variations.

Expected output

Define what the Routine should return and how the result should be structured. Useful details include:

  • the audience and decision to support;
  • required sections, fields, or table columns;
  • source and citation expectations;
  • how to handle missing or conflicting information;
  • the preferred format, such as a briefing, memo, one-pager, table, or slides.

Delivery

When Marc email is available, Marc can deliver the completed work by email and keep it connected to the corresponding Lampi conversation. You can reply to continue the work.

Other results remain available from the Routine session and the work surface that created them.

Review boundaries

Routine outputs are prepared for review. Keep external or sensitive actions behind confirmation, including sending messages, changing business records, or creating commitments in connected tools.

Check before enabling

Before turning a Routine on, confirm:

  • the correct source accounts are selected;
  • the schedule uses the expected local time;
  • the signal condition is narrow enough;
  • the output is clear and reviewable;
  • the delivery destination is appropriate;
  • any required fields are complete.

If a required setting is missing, Lampi asks you to complete it before enabling the Routine.
