Save and Export

Save slide edits, use version snapshots, and export the latest deck as a PowerPoint file.

Save Edits

Use Save in the Slides panel to store the current deck. Save preserves slide order, slide titles, objects, formatting, backgrounds, citation metadata, and content edits.

The Save button is enabled when the deck has unsaved changes. After saving, the button becomes disabled until you make another edit.

Unsaved Changes

If you try to leave with unsaved edits, Lampi asks whether you want to save changes before leaving.

Choose:

  • Save to store the latest edits and then leave.
  • Discard to leave without keeping unsaved changes.
  • Close the dialog to keep editing.

Version Snapshots

Saved decks can have version snapshots. Open Version history from the Slides panel header to view prior versions.

Each version shows its version number, operation, timestamp, and slide count. Use Restore to return to a previous version.

note

Restoring a version changes the current deck. Save or export anything important before restoring.

Export To PPTX

Use Export to PPTX when the deck is ready to download.

  1. Open the deck in the Slides panel.
  2. Click Export.
  3. Lampi saves the latest edits first.
  4. The .pptx file downloads when export is complete.

The exported file is a native PowerPoint file. You can continue editing it in PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote.

Citation badges are an in-app review layer. Export to PPTX does not currently add citation badges, speaker-note sources, or a source appendix to the PowerPoint file. If the shared deck needs visible source text, add that source text intentionally as a chart source, footnote, text box, or appendix slide before exporting.

Export Saves Latest Edits First

You do not need to click Save separately before export. Export first saves the latest deck state, then generates the PowerPoint file. If saving fails, export does not continue.

Deck Saving Vs Layout Metadata

Saving a deck is different from saving a layout.

ActionWhat it saves
SaveThe current deck's slides, objects, order, content, and formatting.
Save as LayoutThe current slide as a reusable layout with layout name, description, category, visibility, and overwrite behavior.

The layout name and description help users and AI find the reusable layout later. They are separate from normal deck saving.

Export From Grid Rows

When slides are opened from a Grid row, Export to PPTX exports that row's current Canvas Slide deck. Other rows have their own decks and must be opened or generated separately.

Before Sharing

Before exporting final materials:

  • Review each slide in presentation mode.
  • Check citation badges if the deck uses sourced values.
  • Add visible source text where the exported PowerPoint should show sources.
  • Confirm charts and tables use the latest data.
  • Save reusable pages as layouts before making one-off edits that you do not want in the shared layout.
