Tools & MCP Library

Tools and MCPs extend Lampi AI with search, document analysis, connectors, databases, and external data providers. Use this page to understand the main categories of capabilities available in Chat and AI Grid Agents.

Where Can You Use These Tools?

Tools and MCPs are available in both Chat interactions and AI Grid Agents. The exact tools you see depend on your workspace, subscription, connected accounts, admin configuration, and provider access.

Skills vs. Tools

Tools give Lampi access to a specific capability, such as searching files, querying a provider, or acting inside a connected app. Skills are reusable workflows that can combine instructions, examples, output formats, and tools for a specific type of work. For more, see Skills.

How to Choose Tools

Select the tools that match the information or action your task needs:

  • Use Files Search (RAG+) for targeted lookups in selected documents.
  • Use Files Analysis (Full-context) when Lampi needs to read complete documents for summaries, reviews, comparisons, or research questions.
  • Use Web Search when the answer depends on public or recent information.
  • Use Connectors when Lampi needs to search, read, create, update, or organize content inside connected apps such as Gmail, Google Drive, or Google Calendar.
  • Use Databases and External Providers when you need structured company, financial, investor, real estate, contact, or public web data.
  • Use Creation and Computation tools when the output should be a chart, calculation, image, document, or HTML asset.

You can select more than one tool when a task needs multiple sources or actions. For example, a market research question may use selected files, Web Search, and a financial data provider. More tools can broaden Lampi's access, but they can also make the task slower or less focused, so select only the capabilities that are relevant.

Files Search and Web Search are available from the chat bar with two modes:

  • Fast runs a direct tool lookup. Use it for quick facts, targeted retrieval, keyword-style questions, and narrow file or web answers.
  • Pro uses a deeper workflow or skill. Use it for research, synthesis, summaries, comparisons, verification, or questions that need a more complete answer.

For more details about using these modes in Chat, see How to chat with Lampi.

Search and Document Tools

Search public web sources for current or external information. Use it when the answer depends on information that is not already in your selected context.

Files Search (RAG+)

Search uploaded or selected documents using semantic similarity. This is designed for targeted lookups such as finding specific facts, figures, names, clauses, or data points in your documents.

info

Files Search is faster than full-context analysis because it retrieves the most relevant passages instead of reading every page.

Files Analysis (Full-context)

Analyze documents by reading their full content. Lampi processes the complete document context to answer complex questions, produce summaries, compare documents, or perform deeper review work.

info

Files Analysis is better when the question needs the whole document context. It may take longer than Files Search.

Rewrite Document

Transform an entire document while preserving its structure. Use it to translate, change tone, simplify language, or convert a document format when the capability is enabled.

Documents Workflow

Generate and analyze documents through document-focused workflows available in your workspace.

Creation and Computation

ToolWhat it enables
Read or Generate ImageInspect image content or generate image outputs when image tools are enabled.
Generate GraphCreate charts, graphs, and visualizations from data.
CalculatePerform calculations for numeric, financial, or analytical tasks.
HTMLCreate, edit, or work with HTML outputs and web-style assets.

Connectors

Connectors let Lampi work with apps that are connected to your account or workspace.

ConnectorWhat it enables
GmailRead, search, draft, send, label, archive, and organize emails.
Google DriveSearch, list, upload, download, organize, and retrieve metadata for Drive files and folders.
Google CalendarCreate, update, list, and delete calendars and events, manage attendees, and check RSVP status.

Databases

DVF Database

Query official French real estate transaction data from the last 5 years. Search property sales by location, price, surface area, or property type across France.

info

DVF supports filters such as commune, postal code, property type, price range, surface area, and search radius. Coverage excludes Alsace, Moselle, and Mayotte.

VC Database

Search a database of Private Equity, Venture Capital, Angel, and CVC investors. Use it to find funds by sector, investment range, geography, or co-investor network.

Business and Finance Providers

External providers give Lampi access to structured business, financial, market, contact, and public web data. Availability depends on provider licensing and your workspace configuration.

Grid NLPManage AI Grid content using natural language, such as creating, editing, or adding rows when enabled.
Custom MCPsConnect organization-specific systems, databases, APIs, or workflows to Lampi.

Availability and Access

The Tools panel in Chat or AI Grid Agents is the source of truth for what you can use. If a tool appears there, it is available for your current workspace and permissions.

Some tools require a connected account, admin setup, provider credentials, or a specific subscription. If you need access to a provider or a custom MCP, contact your workspace administrator or reach out to support@lampi.ai.

What are MCPs (Model Context Protocol)?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI systems connect to external tools, data sources, and services in a controlled way.

In Lampi, MCPs can power search, connected app actions, databases, provider integrations, document workflows, and custom organization-specific tools.

Can I Connect My Own Tools/MCPs?

Yes. Lampi can integrate custom MCP tools or organization-specific integrations upon request, allowing your team to connect proprietary systems, databases, and workflows directly into Chat or AI Grid Agents.

Contact support@lampi.ai to discuss custom integration needs.
